I believe that everyone has a story and it is my job to help them tell it. My goals have always been: to work collaboratively, capture the distinct individual qualities that make us all unique, help communicate the clients story, and to get the hell out of the way. I continue to shoot against the trends and hope that my photographs remain relevant as the industry shifts. Thankfully, that has been the case so far.

I am very grateful and lucky. I am 100% self taught. I have a strong arts background, a BFA from ASU and MFA in Theatre from CalArts, but I take pride in the fact that I had to build my photography portfolio and business on my own from the ground up. Photography was a small hobby throughout my life, but in 2002 while living in Brooklyn, I picked up a Mamiya 645 medium format film camera to shoot some actor friends. One thing led to another, I decided to shoot more creative portraits for actors and go against the current headshot trends in NYC, and within six months photography was my “job”. I built a bi-coastal business and traveled between LA and NYC for 16 years. I gave up my Brooklyn studio in 2019 so I could focus on the west coast. I now spend the majority of my time shooting actors, writers, and directors in Los Angeles..

I am so fortunate to work with new and established clients who make it possible for me to make a living with my camera.

My wife, Trace, is a Tai Chi instructor and our daughter, Ella Rue, is in high school dancing, writing, and trying to solve the world’s problems.
